Diaper Card Instructions

I've had quite a few requests for this template. I've never had it online so I've had to snail mail out the template I use, soooooooo I thought it would be good to make up a tutorial on my blog and thought I'd share it here as well:)

Materials needed:

8 1/2" x 11" paper
ruler
pencil
7 1/4" circle (plate works well)

Instructions:

Turn your paper to work on the horizontal.

1. Working on the vertical (8 1/2") edge of the paper, mark at the left side 1" and move down to 7", do the same for the right side.

2. Mark along the horizontal (11") edge at 2 3/4" and 8 1/4", both top and bottom of the paper.

3. Draw a score line from 2 3/4" and 8 1/4" marks DOWN and a cut ACROSS at the 1" and 7" mark to meet the score line.

4. Using a 7 1/4" circle (plate) line it up with the edge, touching the 1" cut line and move the "plate" inward to approximately halfway. Mine measured 3 3/4" and then trace.

Repeat this for the other side as well.

5. Cut out your template.

Remember to cut out the little piece at the top of both sides.

and the piece on the bottom.

6. Now you're ready to fold up your template.

Fold the bottom up to meet the top

Fold in each side flap to meet in the middle.

7. Punch holes for the "ties" into the end of each flap and only in the front of the diaper.

There is your template, now trace it onto the paper of your choice and you're ready to go :) You can even try it with felt!

A 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card should fit inside your diaper nicely :)

Have fun and let me know how your's turned out.

Making a Glossy Card

Hi everyone!

Here's a nice and fun technique you can make using your stamping supplies. To make this project, you will need:

  • Cardstock in black, white, orange, and green
  • Adhesives & dimensionals
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Versamark
  • Clear Embossing Powder
  • Heat Gun
  • Embellishments
Now let's start:

1.) First off you will need to download this pattern-->Halloween Fun<--. Cut out all pieces according to the instructions given EXCEPT FOR THE PUMPKIN.

2.) For the pumpkin I grabbed a pencil and drew the shape in one side of the orange cardstock and then folded the orange cardstock in half and cut out my shape, leaving the left side untouched. See the pic!

You should now have this:

3.) Now for the fun part :) Grab the black kitty shape and with the Versamark damp the entire shape (top only).

4.) Spread clear embossing powder on top, making sure it covers the shape entirely.

5.) With the heat gun melt the embossing powder on the shape.

Repeat steps #3, #4 & #5 for the remaining black pieces.

Nice technique, ha? And it looks gorgeous!

6.) While your shapes are cooling down, grab the pumpkin and decorate it. I chalked and stitched the edges. I also added a Prima leaf on top of it, but of course you can add whatever you like :)

7.) Adhere dimensionals on the back of your pumpkin and center it on top of the black cat shape.

8.) Now finish your card by adding eyes and nose to the cat and its paws. I used my circle punches (small & 1/4 size punches) to create the eyes... even better, you can add those wiggly eyes for a funner look.

And we are done! Here's how it should look on the inside:

Gift Bag Card

Tutorial..

Lets take sizes... I used

2 x 9cm x 16cm white card stock

2 x 8.5cm x 15.5 cm light green card stock

2 x 8cm x 7.5cm backing paper from Victorian Romance cd ( Joanna Sheen)

Topper image cut into a circle with Nestabilities from Victorian Romance cd ( Joanna Sheen)

Scalloped Circle light green card stock

Punch out slots on both cards at the top, the best way to do this is to punch out the 1st then line this up with the next piece turn the punch upside down and align the Punch so the hole will be punched in exactly the same place keeping the 2 pieces of card together and re-punching.

Stick the next size card (mine was light green) down on top of the white card covering the slot holes, these will be re-punched.

I punched out the holes again by aligning the punch up with the first slot holes, then add the background paper the ribbon and the front embellishment.

Put the card pieces to one side until you need them.

Now to making the bag - you will need a piece of A4 paper

Along the long side of the A4 paper score at 2", 5". 7" & 10" there will be a small piece left over at the end.
Turn the paper 45% and make a score line at 2" down the length of the paper.
Fold all of the score lines before moving on to the next instructions.

At the extra edge that was left over from the first set of score lines add double sided tape, this edge will stick down on the inside of the bag as shown in the 2nd image.

At the side of the paper where the 2" scoreline is you with fold this to form the base the best way to describe how this is done is imagine you are wrapping a parcel creasing in the short sides of the bag first so that you are left with triangle points on the wider sides.
stick these triangles down with strong double sided tape.

From the open end of the bag crease both of the sides inwards as you get near to the bottom you will need to turn up the base of the bag as shown in the second image

You can see the bottom of the bag shaped so that there is a V shape in the bottom of the bag this allows the bag to open when everything is stuck in place.
The second picture is showing the bag stuck down with strong double sided tape to the back card.

Add tape to the last side and align up the card front before completely removing the tapes.

Side view of finished bag.
